a few years ago, i felt like i was stuck in a rut, so i decided to follow in the footsteps of the great american philosopher, morgan spurlock, and try something new for 30 days. the idea is actually pretty simple. think about something you’ve always wanted to add to your life and try it for the next 30 days. it turns out, 30 days is just about the right amount of time to add a new habit or subtract a habit — like watching the news — from your life.
there’s a few things i learned while doing these 30-day challenges. the first was, instead of the months flying by, forgotten, the time was much more memorable. this was part of a challenge i did to take a picture everyday for a month. and i remember exactly where i was and what i was doing that day. i also noticed that as i started to do more and harder 30-day challenges, my self-confidence grew. i went from desk-dwelling computer nerd to the kind of guy who bikes to work — for fun. even last year, i ended up hiking up mt. kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in africa. i would never have been that adventurous before i started my 30-day challenges.
i also figured out that if you really want something badly enough, you can do anything for 30 days. have you ever wanted to write a novel? every november, tens of thousands of people try to write their own 50,000 word novel from scratch in 30 days. it turns out, all you have to do is write 1,667 words a day for a month. so i did. by the way, the secret is not to go to sleep until you’ve written your words for the day. you might be sleep-deprived, but you’ll finish your novel. now is my book the next great american novel? no. i wrote it in a month. it’s awful. but for the rest of my life, if i meet john hodgman at a ted party, i don’t have to say, “i’m a computer scientist.” no, no, if i want to i can say, “i’m a novelist.”
(laughter)
so here’s one last thing i’d like to mention. i learned that when i made small, sustainable changes, things i could keep doing, they were more likely to stick. there’s nothing wrong with big, crazy challenges. in fact, they’re a ton of fun. but they’re less likely to stick. when i gave up sugar for 30 days, day 31 looked like this.
(laughter)
so here’s my question to you: what are you waiting for? i guarantee you the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days.
thanks.
Hold Fast To Your Dreams
I have a dream today。
I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together。
Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King。 But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams。
However, we meed dreams。 They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality。 They keep us going。 Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great。 When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant。 Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality。 However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions。 Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it。 Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future。 Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it。
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly。 Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow。 So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams。 Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today。

Good morning everyone!
My name is Jie Lidi. Today, my topic is: “Confidence”. As we all know, failure is the mother of success. But What I want to say is that success is the child of confidence. Without confidence, things can becoenegative and uncofortable.I remember, during an English class, I wanted to make a sentence using the word "listen". I should have said: "I listen to the Voice of America" but I was too nervous and said "I listen to the Noise of America". Everybody in the class laughed. Since then I wanted to train myself to be confident. Now, confidence makes me brave and courageous. Take this speech for example. I wanted to enter this copetition, but I would feel very embarrassed if I made mistakes. Just then, I thought about my dream. My dream is to becoea scientist when I grow up. If I am not confident, how can I overcoedifficulties I face? If I am not confident, how can I succeed in developing myself in the future? I will do it! Today, I am making a speech in public and I feel proud and confident!
I am sure, in the future, with confidence, I will go forward-always forward. Confidence will make my dreams coetrue!
Thank you!
ladies and gentlemen:
it is a great honor for me to talk about the topic with you all, my dear friends!
as you all know, there is a flinty problem that many many fresh graduates can not find their jobs today. what is worse, it seems that we have few ways to sovle it. probably, some others would argue that why not let our ya go abroad since there are so many chances there? on second thoughts, should our government propose that we youth go abroad for job hunting? my answer is absolutely “ no”!
just think, my friends, why somebody suggest our fresh graduates go abroad? are our markets for job seekers really saturated ? are there really bags of jobs waiting for the jobless abroad? can the migration really put the axe in the helve? it is unlikely, in my opinion.
in some degree, it is a illusion thinking that there have been dead-alive on the labor market home. so many graduates say they can not find their jobs, so many parents worry about their young ones’ future, so many companies close the doors for job seeking…… how it just be a illusion ? do i have a bee in my head?
first ,we should make it clear that what kind of jobs that our graduates want to take, and where they want to work? it goes without saying, only jobs providing high salary in big cities, for instance beijing, can satisfy them. unfortunately ,that kind of jobs are limited. therefore, it is not that our graduates can not find jobs but that they can not find the fictive jobs , as a matter of fact. no matter how flourish and how actively a city is, it can provide numbered positions for the job seekers. what they want is perfect, but what they can gain in the end is another pair of shoes.
in fact, in the country, in the undeveloped places, more and more persons with ability are needed. however, there are no theatres, there are no cafes, there are no kfc, and there are supermarkets… as a result, no body like to work there.as we all know, developed countries
Dream, with each one of us.
Dream is beautiful, it is the bottom of my heart the most beautiful expectations, so the dream also become our long-held beliefs.
Dream is the sun, it makes people from impetuous to solid, from the hesitation to the firm, and on the road to success.
Dream is powerful, it is the life source of forward momentum; Lofty dreams can inspire a life all potential.
Because of this we will go to dream, to grasp the dream, the pursuit of dreams. And because of country's dream is the one people's little dream, is not affected by big dream small dreams, but just because one little dream realization and achievement of the establishment of the great dream, why notMy dream, our dream, to improve the Chinese dream.
To you the day of my dreams to realize, is standing at the time of China.
we deep in the years to write a glorious. In global view shows choice of the Chinese road of national rejuvenation; concentrated panorama in history." Around the millennium change, eventful years, Chinese new century, great turning point, span, the future of six theme, reflects China's great achievements since 1840,
arduous and tortuous road of revitalization of the nation and the Chinese people made in China under the leadership of the Communist party. The "shock" "excited" tears ......
This is my watch, taste right is felt when discourse. Process of reading and rejuvenation of the great,
I reviewed the history of the Chinese nation 100 years the dream of power and uemitting exploration. Full and accurate historical data, magnificent momentum, a language, a precious historical pictures,
shows a picture of the world national revival.
Facing this audience on the stage, I have the exciting feeling of participating in the march of history, for what we are facing today is more than a mere competition or contest. It is an assembly of some of China's most talented and motivated people, representatives of a younger generation that are preparing themselves for the coming of a new century. I'm grateful that I've been given this opportunity, at such a historic moment, to stand here as a spokesman of my generation and to take a serious look back at the past 15 years, a crucial period for every one of us and for this nation as well.
Though it is only within my power to tell about my personal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it at that, it still represents, I believe, the root of a spirit which has been essential to me and to all the people bred by the past 15 years.
In my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard but somehow could never do satisfactorily in her lessons.
The teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lotfromme. but as a young boy, restless, thoughtless, I always tried to evade her so as to get more time to enjoy myself.
One day before the final exam, she came up to me and said, "Could you please explain this to me? I want very much to do better this time. " I started explaining, and finished in a hurry. Pretending not to notice her still confused eyes, I ran off quickly. Nat surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam. And two months later, at the beginning of the new semester, word came of her death of blood cancer. No one ever knew about the little task I failed to fulfill, but I couldn't forgive myself. I simply couldn't forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, "Why didn't you do a little more to help me, when it was so easy for you? Why didn't you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that I would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret?"
I was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for I began to understand the word "responsibility" and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.
Later in my life, I continued to experience many failures. But never again did I feel that regret which struck me at the death of the girl, for it makes my heart satisfied to think that I have always done everything in my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best I can.
As I grew up, changed and improved by this incident and many other similar ones, I began to perceive the changes taking place around me and to find that society, in a way, was in its formative years like myself. New buildings, new commodities and new fashions appear every day.
New ideas, new information, new technologies. People can talk with each otherfromany corner of the earth in a matter of seconds. Society is becoming more competitive.
How to protect the environment
The environmental protection is the most major problem which in the modern life the humanity faces. must solve this problem must start from foundation. first, must massively propagandize, enhances people's consciousness with understanding, strengthens the environmental protection consciousness. next, must carry on waste recovery use, reduces to forest-tree's felling.
also must strengthen to white pollution processing, little uses the plastic product. finally, must make improvement to clean aspect. causes the city's appearance to be neater. for earth's tomorrow, we must start from the now diligently, will want the well local constable to protect the environment. to this us proposes as follows suggests: implementation trash classification packed in bags.

All the celebrations welcoming the new century were hold in the year 20xx,because life without a GREeting is like the sky without the sun.Greetings are very important for the whole world,in my opinion.
But I don't know whether GREetings are enough for us.Especially when we meet with failures .I remember quite clearly that when I was a child,if I fall down and was on the brink of crying,my father always told me"Please stand up from where you fall down!"
Yes,we must stand up from where we fall down.
That was a special mid night in 1993.Expectations filled our hearts.
We stared at the TV,hoping excitedly as the voice would fly to our ears.
But at last, each Chinese who loves our motherland was distressed to know the result:Beijing ,lost to Sydeny by a margin of two votes in the Olym
Eight years have past, but the frustration has not healed with time at all.
Now,at the begining of the new millennium, all of the pride and disappointment of the 20th century had gone with the wind. The 21st century, which is full of hope, longing znd thought has come. Someone said,we would start from zero on.
Should I really start from zero on?
No!I hold that we should go on with our efferts and ambitions stayed by last century, and make our life better.
"New Beijing,GREat Olympics!" the voice cries this out around China's captital,a 3,000 -year-old city these days.
Beijing, along with Paris,Istanbul,Osake and Toronto, has been shortlisted by the International Olympic Committee as an official candidate city for the 20xx Olympic Games.
This is Beijing's second attempt to host the games.
Everyone fully supports Beijing's bid for it.
Maybe,we can paint fences along the main roads of Beijing.
Maybe,we can make much of yhe city cleaned up.
Maybe,we can learn and speak basic English idioms and expressions for daily communication.
But,but are they just enough?
Facing the new century, mankind is driven by the revolution of science and technoiogy, world economy is undergoing broud and profound changes. But nobody can deny the fact that compared with developed nations, developing countries are confronted with more pressure and challenges. In order to become famous in the world,we must speed up our international economic restructuring to catch up with industrialized nations.
Supporting Beijing's bid is a systematic project that can support China'sdevelopment efforts.
I believe recycled paper, clean fuel, sorted rubbish,water-saving and enery-efficient facilities will become reality in the coming years for China.
It is a commonplace among moralists that you cannot get happiness by pursuing it. This is only true if you pursue it unwisely. Gamblers at Monte Carlo are pursuing money, and most of them lose it instead, but there are other ways of pursuing money which often succeed. So it is with happiness. If you pursue it by means of drink, you are forgetting the hang-over. Epicurus pursued it by living only in congenial society and eating only dry bread, supplemented by a little cheese on feast days. His method proved successful in his case, but he was a valetudinarian, and most people would need something more vigorous. For most people, the pursuit of happiness, unless supplemented in various ways, is too abstract and theoretical to be adequate as a personal rule of life. But I think that whatever personal rule of life you may choose it should not, except in rare and heroic cases, be incompatible with happiness.
There are a great many people who have all the material conditions of happiness, i.e. health and a sufficient income, and who, nevertheless, are profoundly unhappy. In such cases it would seem as if the fault must lie with a wrong theory as to how to live. In one sense, we may say that any theory as to how to live is wrong. We imagine ourselves more different from the animals than we are. Animals live on impulse, and are happy as long as external conditions are favorable. If you have a cat it will enjoy life if it has food and warmth and opportunities for an occasional night on the tiles. Your needs are more complex than those of your cat, but they still have their basis in instinct. In civilized societies, especially in English-speaking societies, this is too apt to be forgotten. People propose to themselves some one paramount objective, and restrain all impulses that do not minister to it. A businessman may be so anxious to grow rich that to this end he sacrifices health and private affections. When at last he has become rich, no pleasure remains to him except harrying other people by exhortations to imitate his noble example. Many rich ladies, although nature has not endowed them with any spontaneous pleasure in literature or art, decide to be thought cultured, and spend boring hours learning the right thing to say about fashionable new books that are written to give delight, not to afford opportunities for dusty snobbism.
If you look around at the men and women whom you can call happy, you will see that they all have certain things in common. The most important of these things is an activity which at most gradually builds up something that you are glad to see coming into existence. Women who take an instinctive pleasure in their children can get this kind of satisfaction out of bringing up a family. Artists and authors and men of science get happiness in this way if their own work seems good to them. But there are many humbler forms of the same kind of pleasure. Many men who spend their working life in the city devote their weekends to voluntary and unremunerated toil in their gardens, and when the spring comes, they experience all the joys of having created beauty.
The whole subject of happiness has, in my opinion, been treated too solemnly. It had been thought that man cannot be happy without a theory of life or a religion. Perhaps those who have been rendered unhappy by a bad theory may need a better theory to help them to recovery, just as you may need a tonic when you have been ill. But when things are normal a man should be healthy without a tonic and happy without a theory. It is the simple things that really matter. If a man delights in his wife and children, has success in work, and finds pleasure in the alternation of day and night, spring and autumn, he will be happy whatever his philosophy may be. If, on the other hand, he finds his wife fateful, his childrens noise unendurable, and the office a nightmare; if in the daytime he longs for night, and at night sighs for the light of day, then what he needs is not a new philosophy but a new regimen----a different diet, or more exercise, or what not.
Man is an animal, and his happiness depends on his physiology more than he likes to think. This is a humble conclusion, but I cannot make myself disbelieve it. Unhappy businessmen, I am convinced, would increase their happiness more by walking six miles every day than by any conceivable change of philosophy.
In this symposium, better is it to only sit in silence. To express ones feelings as the end draws near is too intimate a task. That I would mention only one thought that comes to me as a listener-in: the riders in a race do not stop short when they reach the goal, there is a little finishing canter before coming to a standstill, there is time to hear the kind voice of friends, and to say to oneself, the work is done. But just as one says that, the answer comes, the race is over, but the work never is done while the power to work remains.
The canter that brings you to a standstill need not be only coming to rest; it cannot be while you still live. But to live is to function, that is all there is in living. So I end with a land from a Latin voice: death, death, clutches my ear, and says, live, I am coming.--By Oliver Wendell Holmes.
i have been in university for about one year. during my stay here, i came to realize that university life is like drinking coke. we experience all tastes of life here, sour, sweet, bitter and hot.
i am from province, which is far away from here. i often miss my mum, friends, and relatives in my hometown. however, i can't see them very often. so loneliness always keeps me company. i am sad that i can't be there with them.
lucky for me, life in university is rich and colorful. with more free time,we can do many more things besides study, such as joining societies clubs, and taking part-time jobs. such activities not only make our life more colorful, but also help us improve all kinds of skills. the university is a society miniature, what we learn here will benefit our future life.
our path in life will not always be smooth. setbacks can't be avoided. failing an important exam, break up with boy or girl friend, or refused by a promising company, such setbacks are likely to get us down. sometimes we fell so frustrated that we even burst into tears.
drinkin coke is wonderful, despite the undesirble consequent hiccups. it's bitter, sour and peppery, but also sweet. and you'll even feel excited after gulping down a glass. a college experience is part of growing up. we cry, smile, fall in love, get hurt, leave, learn and then we become a better person.
university life is like drinking coke. i'm experiencing it. and i know, i enjoy it!

how to speak good english
ladies and gentlemen,
good morning. it’s my great honor to be here and i am very happy to see you all. thank you for being here. what i am going to talk about today is how to speak good english.
first of all, i’d like to talk about the importance of speaking good english and share my experience in learning english with you. as you know, english has become an international language. wherever you go, english is always commonly used. it is convenient to know the language. at the same time, english may be the most important factor in deciding which countries are leaders in the future. the language of the most advanced management and technology is undoubtedly english. being able to absorb this information is really the key to the new century. in the 21century. we can’t go there and speak our own language because nobody is going to learn it in order to understand us. our asian rival, india, has surged ahead of other developing countries in information technology because of its superior english skills. unless we are able to master english, we will not be able to get our population to use it and take advantage of the new economy. there is an urgent need to have a workforce which is proficient in the language in view of the information technology onslaught.
second, about learning english, i think laying a strong foundation is the first and most important step. in other words, you should read and speak english every day. memorizing new words and phrases is also helpful. of course, learning english takes some time, so don’t be impatient. remember, rome wasn’t built in a day. and then since english is not our native tongue, we must develop the muscles of your speech organs to produce unfamiliar sounds. when you read, read as loudly as possible, as clearly as possible and as quickly as possible. tongue muscles’ training is of importance in learning any foreign language.
third, if you want to speak good english, please don’t care how poorly well you speak, only care about catching the chances to speak. you must enjoy losing face; just forget about your face. the more you speak, the better your english will become. the more mistakes you make, the more.progress you will make. you must enjoy speaking poor english, because speaking is the only thing that will lead you towards success. don’t give up. just try your best. every time you move your mouth, your memory will deepen, your muscles will strengthen. you can make it.
i have made a considerable amount of public english speaking in my life. i am often asked why the crazy english method is better than other methods or if the crazy english method will help all english learners. my answer is: the method will help the english learners because it is a perfect match with the chinese principles of diligence, self-help and determination. mere exposure to english will not enable you to speak english. if you want to drive you have to get in the car and drive, if you want to dance you have to turn on the music and dance, if you want to swim you have to jump in the water and swim. in fact, swimming is the perfect comparison to learning english. you can’t learn to swim by sitting in a room and reading books about swimming skills. in order to be a swimmer, you’ve got to conquer you fear, you’ve got to survive and suck in water, yell for help, you’ve got to lose face many times before you can make it. but, to be a good swimmer you’ve got to practice again and again. to be a great swimmer you have to practice for years until you can harmonize every
part of your body and mind.

As everyone knows, English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world.
But for myself, I learn English not only because of its importance, but also because of my love for it. When I learn English, I can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. When I speak English, I can feel the confidence from my words.
I love English. It gives me a colorful dream. I hope I can travel around the world some day. With my good English, I can make many foreign friends.
I also want to use my good English to introduce our great places to the English spoken people. I hope that they can love our country like us. I am sure that I will realize my dream one day! Thank you!
I speak tonight for the dignity of man and the destiny of democracy. I urge every member of both parties, Americans of all religions and of all colors, from every section of this country, to join me in that cause.
At times history and fate meet at a single time in a single place to shape a turning point in mans unending search for freedom. So it was at Lexington and Concord. So it was a century ago at Appomattox. So it was last week in Selma, Alabama. There, long-suffering men and women peacefully protested the denial of their rights as Americans. Many were brutally assaulted. One good man, a man of God, was killed.
There is no cause for pride in what has happened in Selma. There is no cause for self-satisfaction in the long denial of equal rights of millions of Americans. But there is cause for hope and for faith in our democracy in what is happening here tonight. For the cries of pain and the hymns and protests of oppressed people have summoned into convocation all the majesty of this great government -- the government of the greatest nation on earth. Our mission is at once the oldest and the most basic of this country: to right wrong, to do justice, to serve man.
In our time we have come to live with the moments of great crisis. Our lives have been marked with debate about great issues -- issues of war and peace, issues of prosperity and depression. But rarely in any time does an issue lay bare the secret heart of America itself. Rarely are we met with a challenge, not to our growth or abundance, or our welfare or our security, but rather to the values, and the purposes, and the meaning of our beloved nation.
The issue of equal rights for American Negroes is such an issue.
And should we defeat every enemy, and should we double our wealth and conquer the stars, and still be unequal to this issue, then we will have failed as a people and as a nation. For with a country as with a person, "What is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"
There is no Negro problem. There is no Southern problem. There is no Northern problem. There is only an American problem. And we are met here tonight as Americans -- not as Democrats or Republicans. We are met here as Americans to solve that problem.
This was the first nation in the history of the world to be founded with a purpose. The great phrases of that purpose still sound in every American heart, North and South: "All men are created equal," "government by consent of the governed," "give me liberty or give me death." Well, those are not just clever words, or those are not just empty theories. In their name Americans have fought and died for two centuries, and tonight around the world they stand there as guardians of our liberty, risking their lives.
Those words are a promise to every citizen that he shall share in the dignity of man. This dignity cannot be found in a mans possessions; it cannot be found in his power, or in his position. It really rests on his right to be treated as a man equal in opportunity to all others. It says that he shall share in freedom, he shall choose his leaders, educate his children, provide for his family according to his ability and his merits as a human being. To apply any other test -- to deny a man his hopes because of his color, or race, or his religion, or the place of his birth is not only to do injustice, it is to deny America and to dishonor the dead who gave their lives for American freedom.
Our fathers believed that if this noble view of the rights of man was to flourish, it must be rooted in democracy. The most basic right of all was the right to choose your own leaders. The history of this country, in large measure, is the history of the expansion of that right to all of our people. Many of the issues of civil rights are very complex and most difficult. But about this there can and should be no argument.
Every American citizen must have an equal right to vote.
There is no reason which can excuse the denial of that right. There is no duty which weighs more heavily on us than the duty we have to ensure that right.
good morning ladies and gentlemen:
the title of my speech today is “the doors that are open to us ”。
the other day my aunt paid me a visit. she was overjoyed. “i got thehighest mark in the mid-term examination!” she said. don't be surprised! my auntis indeed a student; to be exact, a college student at the age of 45.
last year, she put aside her private business and signed up for a one-year,full-time management course in a college. “this was the wisest decision i haveever made,” she said proudly like a teenage girl. to her, college is always aright place to pick up new ideas, and new ideas always make her feel young.
“compared with the late 70s,” she says, “now college students have manydoors.” my aunt cannot help but recall her first college experience in 1978 whencollege doors began to be re-opened after the cultural revolution. she wasassigned to study engineering despite her desire to study chinese literature, and a few years later, the government sent her to work in a tv factory.
i was shocked when she first told me how she (had) had no choice in hermajor and job. look at us today! so many doors are open to us! i believe therehave never been such abundant opportunities for self-development as we havetoday. and my aunt told me that we should reach our goals by grasping all theseopportunities.
the first door i see is the opportunity to study different kinds ofsubjects that interest us. my aunt said she was happy to study management, butshe was also happy that she could attend lectures on ancient chinese poetry andon shakespearean drama. as for myself, i am an english major, but i may also goto lectures on history. to me, if college education in the past emphasizedspecialization, now, it emphasizes free and well-rounded development of eachindividual. so all the fine achievements of human civilization are open tous.
the second door is the door to the outside world. learning goes beyondclassrooms and national boundaries. my aunt remembers her previous college daysas monotonous and even calls her generation “frogs in a well.” but today, as theworld becomes a global village, it is important that our neighbors and we beopen-minded to learn with and from each other. i have many fellow internationalclassmates, and i am applying to an exchange program with a university abroad.as for my aunt, she is planning to get an mba degree in the united kingdom whereher daughter, my cousin, is now doing her master's degree in biochemistry. weare now taking the opportunity to study overseas, and when we come back, we'llput to use what we have learnt abroad.
the third door is the door to lifelong learning. as new ideas appear allthe time, we always need to acquire new knowledge, regardless of our age.naturally, my aunt herself is the best example. many of my aunt's contemporariessay that she is amazingly up-to-date for a middle-aged woman. she simplyresponds, “age doesn't matter. what matters is your attitude. you may think it'sstrange that i am still going to college, but i don't think i'm too old tolearn.” yes, she is right. since the government removed the age limit forcollege admissions in _, there are already some untraditional students, sittingwith us in the same classrooms. like these people, my aunt is old but she isvery young in spirit. with her incredible energy and determination, she embodiesboth tradition and modernity.
the doors open to us also pose challenges. for instance, we are faced withthe challenge of a balanced learning, the challenge of preserving our finetradition while learning from the west, and the challenge of learningcontinuously while carrying heavy responsibilities to our work and family. so,each door is a test of our courage, ability and judgment, but with the supportof my teachers, parents, friends and my aunt, i believe i can meet the challengehead on. when i reach my aunt's age, i can be proud to say that i have walkedthrough dozens of doors and will, in the remainder of my life, walk through manymore. possibly i will go back to college, too.
thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen.

Dear teachers, dear students:
hello everyone!
The topic of my speech is "the hardness of life"
The vast desert, a tree stand, the show is a monument to the image.
Towering mountains, thousands of tree stand up, as is a magnificent the Great Wall.
The long river, all the trees stood up into a dragon of glory.
We are a symbol of too much, and too much. But I believe that my image is not "the gentlest hands, skin, such as Diorskin" Lin Daiyu, nor is the modern "unkempt and shabby", "Su Qier". We are a symbol of hope and vitality. So we show in front of others should be inserted without pleats, face without scale, modest and polite gestures exudes a stream of heroic spirit, the image of the vigor and vitality of the modern new youth, a into the embodiment of the spirit of nature.
Someone once said, life is a kind of hardness, integrity and dignity of life is propped up the hardness of bone. "Better life" and "the Kui back in the day, and not ashamed on the ground", which is always the traditional virtue of the China. Li Bai's "the eyebrow nengcui Zheyaoshan powerful thing, so that I may not be happy Yan" this awe inspiring atmosphere of the verse and whether it will make those no self-esteem people to shame? Loss of self-esteem is a worthless person, and we as the vanguard of the times, if drown in the darkness forever, or to do a dauntless hero, a flower in the wind and rain sonorous rose. The answer is self-evident. Desert desolate also has the monument stands, Castle Peak again proud, but also have the great wall around, the river again quiet, also there is a dragon in the recumbent. But the time can be changed, our image, our glory remains the same. Because we pride, because we are confident, because we have a fresh life. And because of this, it is a vast desert riparian long, Qingshan was evergreen, the hardness of life is forever.
Change the world? change ourselves
Good evening, honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen.
It’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—change the world, change ourselves.
It’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
Frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with them.Indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
There are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand, the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend, chinese unconsciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
With the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becom faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.
At last i’d like to share a famouse saying of gandhi with all of you ,that is:if you want to change the world, then you must change yourself first.”

autumn is lovely. it is the season of harvest. there are many oranges on the trees on tianping mountain. they were smiling at our arrival.
on the 12th november, , we came to the orange garden and saw many lovely oranges. some of them were not fully ripe, so their peels were green like small bells or lanterns. how beautiful! when i picked oranges, i needed to use force to pull them down. they seemed as if they were not willing to leave their mums—the orange trees. the oranges were big and round. their peels were very thin. we tasted a section of the orange. it was sweet and a slightly sour. i feel that suzhou has really good mountains, good water and good scenery!
through this autumn outing, i experienced the happiness of harvest and the hardness of labor.
I am a rich girl, because I have a lot of treasure.
Friends are my treasures. Whenever I am sad and down, I know they would hold my hands and warm my heart. They show me how amazing the friendship is.
Families are also my treasures. Whether time find us far apart or it keeps us close together, they are always standing by my side. They tell me how wonderful to be loved by people you love.
Experience is my treasure. Whatever good or bad situation I have to face, it would show me the right way. It helps me to know more about life.
I believe I will be richer in the future., because the way of life is just like a journey of finding treasure .You never know when and where you can find them. You just keep going and they will be found in some time at some place. I will cherish what I have had and keep finding with my curiosity and passion . I fall in love with reading, because I can get the treasure of knowledge .
I take part in activities, because I can find the treasure of cooperation.
I enjoy music, because I can find out the treasure of beauty.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return. But what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.
A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go.
The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth, even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
Always put yourself in the other's shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.
A careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life; a timely word may level stress; a loving word may heal and bless.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.
There was once a guy who suffered from cancer, a cancer that can?'t be cured. He was 18 years old and he could die anytime. All his life, he was stuck in his house being taken cared by his mother. He never went outside but he was sick of staying home and wanted to go out for once. So he asked his mother and she gave him permission.
He walked down his block and found a lot of stores. He passed a CD store and looked through the front door for a second as he walked. He stopped and went back to look into the store. He saw a beautiful girl about his age and he knew it was love at first sight. He opened the door and walked in, not looking at anything else but her. He walked closer and closer until he was finally at the front desk where she sat.
She looked up and asked, “Can I help you?”
She smiled and he thought it was the most beautiful smile he has ever seen before and wanted to kiss her right there.
He said, “Uh… Yeah… Umm… I would like to buy a CD.”
He picked one out and gave her money for it.
"Would you like me to wrap it for you?” she asked, smiling her cute smile again.
He nodded and she went to the back. She came back with the wrapped CD and gave it to him. He took it and walked out of the store.
He went home and from then on, he went to that store every day and bought a CD, and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. He was still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn't. His mother found out about this and told him to just ask her. So the next day, he took all his courage and went to the store as usual. He bought a CD like he did every day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. He took it and when she wasn't looking, he left his phone number on the desk and ran out…
One day the phone rang, and the mother picked it up and said, “Hello?”
It was the girl! The mother started to cry and said, “You don?'t know? He passed away yesterday…”
The line was quiet except for the cries of the boy's mother. Later in the day, the mother went into the boy?'s room because she wanted to remember him. She thought she would start by looking at his clothes. So she opened the closet.
She was face to face with piles and piles and piles of unopened CDs. She was surprised to find all these CDs and she picked one up and sat down on the bed and she started to open one. Inside, there was a CD and as she took it out of the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The mother picked it up and started to read it. It said: Hi… I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn.
The mother was deeply moved and opened another CD…
Again there was a piece of paper. It said: Hi… I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn.
Love is… when you?'ve had a huge fight but then decide to put aside your egos, hold hands and say, “I Love You.”

dear students, our way of life is always sunny, blue skies, which in the end the most dazzling ray of sunlight? it was said to be excellent academic performance, it was said to be given to help others ... ... and i think that our way of life of the most brilliant sunshine should be reported to belong to the temple map, help us to grow thanks to everyone. yes, the institute of thanksgiving is a feeling, the institute of thanksgiving, but also a character. as teachers and our students, the most important gratitude is a school. schools to give us a big growth stage of life: bright and spacious classrooms, new desks and chairs, air-conditioned and well-being, as well as multi-media facilities, has provided us with an attractive learning environment. read one book bright and clean rooms, provides us with knowledge of the marine tour; flat beautiful big playground, provided us with a good place for the exercise, and pottery room, computer room, dance room, multi-purpose hall, and so on, no school is not out of devotion to our selfless love! however, in these beautiful places, often with some notes of discord. read books in one room, some students read the book, abandonment, i do not know the original release, there is more tear, using the phenomenon of the book; when the red and green and white artificial big playground to open it selfless embrace, and some of the scenes of discord hurt our eyes: a wide range of confetti, colorfu
I was one of the only kids in college who had a reason to go to the P.O. box at the end of the day, and that was mainly because my mother has never believed in email, in Facebook, in texting or cell phones in general. And so while other kids were BBM-ing their parents, I was literally waiting by the mailbox to get a letter from home to see how the weekend had gone, which was a little frustrating when Grandma was in the hospital, but I was just looking for some sort of scribble, some unkempt cursive from my mother.
And so when I moved to New York City after college and got completely sucker-punched in the face by depression, I did the only thing I could think of at the time. I wrote those same kinds of letters that my mother had written me for strangers, and tucked them all throughout the city, dozens and dozens of them. I left them everywhere, in cafes and in libraries, at the U.N., everywhere. I blogged about those letters and the days when they were necessary, and I posed a kind of crazy promise to the Internet: that if you asked me for a hand-written letter, I would write you one, no questions asked. Overnight, my inbox morphed into this harbor of heartbreak -- a single mother in Sacramento, a girl being bullied in rural Kansas, all asking me, a 22-year-old girl who barely even knew her own coffee order, to write them a love letter and give them a reason to wait by the mailbox.
Well, today I fuel a global organization that is fueled by those trips to the mailbox, fueled by the ways in which we can harness social media like never before to write and mail strangers letters when they need them most, but most of all, fueled by crates of mail like this one, my trusty mail crate, filled with the scriptings of ordinary people, strangers writing letters to other strangers not because they're ever going to meet and laugh over a cup of coffee, but because they have found one another by way of letter-writing.
But, you know, the thing that always gets me about these letters is that most of them have been written by people that have never known themselves loved on a piece of paper. They could not tell you about the ink of their own love letters. They're the ones from my generation, the ones of us that have grown up into a world where everything is paperless, and where some of our best conversations have happened upon a screen. We have learned to diary our pain onto Facebook, and we speak swiftly in 140 characters or less.
But what if it's not about efficiency this time? I was on the subway yesterday with this mail crate, which is a conversation starter, let me tell you. If you ever need one, just carry one of these. (Laughter) And a man just stared at me, and he was like, "Well, why don't you use the Internet?" And I thought, "Well, sir, I am not a strategist, nor am I specialist. I am merely a storyteller." And so I could tell you about a woman whose husband has just come home from Afghanistan, and she is having a hard time unearthing this thing called conversation, and so she tucks love letters throughout the house as a way to say, "Come back to me. Find me when you can." Or a girl who decides that she is going to leave love letters around her campus in Dubuque, Iowa, only to find her efforts ripple-effected the next day when she walks out onto the quad and finds love letters hanging from the trees, tucked in the bushes and the benches. Or the man who decides that he is going to take his life, uses Facebook as a way to say goodbye to friends and family. Well, tonight he sleeps safely with a stack of letters just like this one tucked beneath his pillow, scripted by strangers who were there for him when.
These are the kinds of stories that convinced me that letter-writing will never again need to flip back her hair and talk about efficiency, because she is an art form now, all the parts of her, the signing, the scripting, the mailing, the doodles in the margins. The mere fact that somebody would even just sit down, pull out a piece of paper and think about someone the whole way through, with an intention that is so much harder to unearth when the browser is up and the iPhone is pinging and we've got six conversations rolling in at once, that is an art form that does not fall down to the Goliath of "get faster," no matter how many social networks we might join. We still clutch close these letters to our chest, to the words that speak louder than loud, when we turn pages into palettes to say the things that we have needed to say, the words that we have needed to write, to sisters and brothers and even to strangers, for far too long. Thank you. (Applause) (Applause)
