advertisement can be found everywhere in this competitive world. wherever you go, you can see large billboards in the streets. whenever you turn on your tv or radio, you can see or hear advertisements once in a while. most of these advertisements are of great help to consumers. some of them, however, are misleading and, therefore, harmful to consumers.

in order to make more profit, some manufacturers, not acting in accordance with the social norms, produce false advertisements. these advertisements may say that it is worth the money to buy their products and may boast that their products are the best among the products of the same kind. but when the consumers are attracted and buy the products, they will eventually find that they are cheated and fooled, causing great loss in the consumers property.

i strongly oppose advertisements of this kind. i propose that all manufacturers be honest in whatever they do and say. i also suggest that some laws be passed quickly to regulate the making of advertisements.

when i was in high school, I had to study all the time and hardly had spare time to do what i wanted to.Besides, I had to focus on my textbooks and doing exercise again and again. Therefore, I had little time to read magazines and novels and watch TV. what was worse, I couldn't play with my friends a lot, which I couldn't stand the most. In a word, all i did in high shool should be considered for the College Entrance Examination.

However, my college life is totally different from the life in high school.I can arrange my time freely. I spend most of my time reading in the library, where I can open my eyes and broaden my mind.In my free time, I also join some clubs, where i can make a lot of friends of different majors. My teachers in college are so kind and knowledgeable that they not only teach us knowledge but also how to be a person and how to get on with others. In addition, there are more opportunities for me to improve myself.

I believe college life is an important stage in my life. In college, i can learn how to learn by myself, how to get on with others, how to live provides me with a stage where i can show myself and be myself.

Some Students Think Studying in a University is Worth-while Only Because They Can Get aDegree. Do You Agree or Disagree with This Statement?

The surprising fact that I discovered during my first year at the university was that quite a bignumber of students were solely motivated by the academic degree they would obtain upongraduation. Certainly, I would not go anywhere near so far as to doubt the social and economicvalue that a degree would bring to students in future. However, I deem it too nar row forstudents to maintain this kind of attitude towards their studies.

In my mind, university life contain s many enjoyable things, such as new ideas, good booksand brilliant people. And the pursuit of new ideas, the reading of good books and the camp usf riends hip r equire a student's complete devotion but will shine in his whole life.

Probably this tendency is rooted in the vocation-oriented and the career-oriented motivation. If a student discovers his vocation, he finds a life-time pleas ure in pursuing his profession. Bycontrast, a career-oriented student tends to take the academic certificate as an only means topreferment.

In conclusion, the university provides students with many golden opportunities, getting adegree being one of them. The challenge of new ideas, the leisure to read and the chance tomeet people are equally important. Anyway, a broad mind adds so much to the value of adegree.

People are alarmed by the succession of campus fires in recent years. In each of these accidents, heavy casualties were reported - houses were burned down, students lost their lives, and properties were damaged. Faced with such a chilling fact, people keep asking, What on earth results in these repeated tragedies?

A brief survey of them reveals that human factors still prove to be the leading causes. For example, three of these fires were caused by the students use of electric water-heaters. As students often leave the heaters unattended, the risks are rather high should the water in the bottle boil dry while no one is around to turn off the power. In other cases, fires were also caused by stoves, candles, cigarette butts, etc.

Since most of these disasters could have been prevented if proper precautions had been taken, students should be better educated on the importance and measures of fire control. The following three reminders are of particular importance for us students: First, learn how to use a fire extinguisher. Second, double-check candles, heaters, stoves and other electric appliances, and make sure there are no open flames before leaving rooms. Lastly, do not smoke in the dorm.

As can be seen from the graph, there have been sharp changes in the age distribution of drug addicts. To be concrete, the teenage addicts only made up 10 percent of all the drugsters in 1982 while the ratio rose up to 65 in 2002.

The causes for them are not hard to find. First , teenagers’ fearless curiosity about everything new has led some of them into this marsh. Second, many of the young addicts turned for the first time to drugs for escape either from their failure in the national entrance exams or from their parents’ breakup. And above all, our education in the harmfulness of drugs has been far from adequate to build teenagers’ sound resistance to drugs. To sum up, the causes mentioned above must call for more of our concern, and effective measures should be taken to check the trend.

Obviously the drastic change will exert great impact on individuals and the whole society. For one thing, drug-taking does great damage to the health of drug users.。 For another, some drug users commit robbery or even murder their parents and relatives to get money to buy drugs, which poses a great threat to the social security and the social stability. Therefore, it is high time we did something to put an end to this trend.
